Question
The interior of the human body has an average electrical resistivity of 0.15 ohms-meter ) Calculate the resistance along a person's index finger if the finger has a length from tip to knuckle of 9.0cm and and an average diameter of 1.4 cm ( enore the skin resistance.) b) if muscles contract when the current through them is 15 milliamps what minimum voltage is required along the index finger (tip to knuckle) to produce this current? What is the power dissipated for the current through the finger given in part b)? c)Explanation / Answer
1) a) R = pL/A
R = 0.15 * 0.09 / (pi*0.07^2)
= 0.87 ohm
b) V = IR = 0.015*0.87 = 0.01305 V
c) POwer = VI = 0.01305*0.015 = 1.95*10^-4 W
