Question
Four resistors are connected to a battery with a terminal voltage of 12 V, as shown in the figure below. (Assume R = 350 n and R2-74 RI 50.0 20.0 12 V (a) How would you reduce the circuit to an equivalent single resistor connected to the battery? Use this procedure to find the equivalent resistance of the circuit. (b) Find the current delivered by the battery to this equivalent resistance. (c) Determine the power delivered by the battery. (d) Determine the power delivered to the 50.0-2 resistor.Explanation / Answer
here ,
a) for the net single resistance
R3 = 50 +35 = 85 Ohm
Now, R2 and R3 in series
R4 = 85 * 74/(74 + 85)
R4 = 39.6 Ohm
for the net resitance
Rnet = 39.6 + 20 = 59.6 Ohm
the net equivalent single resistance is 59.6 Ohm
b) current delivered by battery = 12/59.6
current delivered by battery = 0.20 A
c) power delivered by the battery = V * I
power delivered by the battery = 0.20 * 12
power delivered by the battery = 2 W
d) for the current in 50 ohm
I = 0.20 * (74)/(85 + 74)
I = 0.093 A
the current is 0.093 A
