Primary flow pathway for production of styrene from ethylbenzene are as follows:
Ethylbenzene along with recycle stream is fed to feed heater which heats feed and pass to series of reactors with inter heater. Product from reactor is cooled using two product coolers and fed to three phase separator where top product is compressed to give hydrogen, middle layer of desired product is fed to distillation column, and bottom product of waste is pumped out. In distillation column benzene, toluene are distilled out and residue of ethylbenzene and styrene are again fed to another distillation column where styrene is obtained as residue and distillate of ethylbenzene is recycled.
