Hi,

Assuming that, adults roughly burn 2000 cal/day, the excess energy consumed by an adult per day would be: 2.2x1000 - 2000 = 2200 - 2000 = 200 cal /day.

In the later part of the question, I think the unit of excess energy should be kJ, instead of kg.

Considering that 14600 kJ gain of excess energy leads to wait gain of 1 lb.

200 cal per day = 200*4.184 kJ = 836.8 kJ/day

Number of days to get 1lb wait would be: 14600/836.8 = 17.44

Hence it should take ~ 17 days to gain 1 lb of weight.
