Question
I have a problem understanding the condensation reaction:
when we have the condensation reaction, the acid will donate HO and the Alcohol will donate H to form water ?? Right?
are there any molecules can be form out of the condensation relations such methanol or any other molecules???? what are they??
Look at this example: I answered with two answers, are they both correct? are these answers equivalent to each other ?? whihc one is correct and why?? Explaine please because I have to understand
n HO-C C-OH + HO-CH2CH OH COOCH CH,O +H20Explanation / Answer
This reaction is Condensation Polymerization reaction.
Condensation polymerization:-The process of formation of polymers by the condensation of two or more bifunctional monomer units along with the elimination of some simple molecules like water ,Ammonia, alcohol etc is called condensation polymerization and also called step growth polymerization.
The Reactant in the above are ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid and the product circled by You in Blue Circle is almost accurate with slight error in number of water molecules. Other answer is wrong according to present rection as the product is not a polymer. Also both products are not equivalent to each other.
The reaction mechanism is complex but yes OH- is taken from acid and H+ is Taken from acid to form H2O.
Hope you understood the concept. If u have another query you can ask.
