Trying to answer this blank question and I just can't figure it out. Does it support the chemical equation? Why or why not? I want ot understand this concept.
G. I don't understand how to write the chemical equation for a reaction like this? I know that CO2 was added to the solution to turn it colorless again but how do I write the other parts of the equation? Any help would be appreciated!

Explain. pouud ar rk l kcal Add 2 mL of the hydrochloric acid solution to a pinch of the calcium carbonate powder in a test tube F.Explanation / Answer
First of all, you have written a wrong balance chemical equation.
Addition of HCl and Na2CO3 will lead to the formation of CO2, H2O, and NaCl
HCl(aq) + Na2CO3(s) = CO2 (g) + H2O(l) + 2NaCl (aq)
Now coming to your question part (e) does this test suppport the above equation?
Yes, this test supports the above equation. It is because the CO2 is a non-flammable gas and does not support combustion and hence the burning wooden splint got extinguished.
G) Part (b)
NaOH + phenolphthalein = pink solution
NaOH + Phenolphthalein + air bubbles = colorless solution
This is because the air which you have blown in the test tube contains CO2 which reacts with water to form carbonic acid. This carbonic acid turns pink solution to colorless.
CO2 (g) + H2O (aq) = H2CO3 (aq)
This is a combination reaction
