Chronic drinking of alcohol leads to several complications. It directly affects the behaviour of the person who is in constantly taking alcohol. It leads to complications of not only health but also family and social relationships and responsibilities of the alcoholic person. The person in alcoholic abuse shows complicated behaviour, sleeplessness, depression and anxiety. Due to continuous intake of alcohol, the fats get deposited leading to obesity of the person which leads to complications such as fatty liver disease. Other complications include heart problems, cardiomyopathy, increase in blood pressure and the person develops insulin resistance leading to diabetes II. It does not fit into a healthy lifestyle as regular intaking of alcohol in low doses or high doses lead to complications. A person needs 2000 kilocalories per day to meet their energy requirements. Alcohol also even though not a nutrient provides energy, provides 7 calories per gram. Fat supplies 9 calories per gram. Protein supplies 4 calories per gram. Carbohydrates supplies 4 calories per gram. The excess intake of high caloric value fat and alcohol along with other food materials and nutrients leads to storage of this excess energy into fat. Alcohol consumed also decreases bone strength leading to bone fracture due to osteoporosis developed. If alcohol to be consumed it should be consumed moderately, but not regularly.
