Question
Burning fossil fuels is a way of introducing a mass flow of CO, into the earth's atmosphere (mco,). Scientists state that the annual increase in the concentration of Co, molecules in the atmosphere, usually measured in parts per million, indicates that the mass generation rate of CO, exceeds the global rate of removing CO, from the atmosphere. What is the reasoning that enables them to conclude the item in bold text? Explain your answer and support it using equations that are appropriate for transient mass balance (15 points) 4.Explanation / Answer
The reason is global warming which is the warming of the universe due emission of green house gases to the atmosphere. There are two kind of activities through which green house gases are emitted to the atmosphere one through natural activities and other anthropogenic activities or man made activities. Though through thermal power project, the emission is carbon monoxide but due to the reaction with atompheric oxygen it form carbon-dioxide which is the main responsible for global warming. Again mass emission rate of CO is more than removal of CO by the atmosphere since emission is through two activities including natural and man made and removal is only through one activity i.e natural. The world now focus on Kyoto protocol mechanism through which we can now control the harmful emissions of CO2 gases by promoting the non conventional energy project instead of thermal power project that utilizes fossil fuel as a source of energy.
