A hydrogen bond is a type of attractive (dipole-dipole)interaction between an electronegative atom and a hydrogenatom bonded to another electronegativ atom. H-bonding alwaysinvolves a hydrogen atom. Hydrogen bonds can be intermolecular orintramolecular. A hydrogen bond tends to be stronger than van derwaals forces, but much weaker than covalent bonds or ionicbonds.
note: H-bond is notcovalent bond, but a type of dipole-dipole interaction.
