Explanation / Answer

2 KMnO4 + 10 KCl + 14 H2SO4 = 2 MnSO4 + 5 Cl2 + 12 KHSO4 + 8H2O Hence the smallest coefficient for chlorine gas is 5. OR, This can be complete redox equation. You can add H2O to balance Hand O at any time. 2(8H+ + MnO4- + 5e- --> Mn2+ + 4H2O) 5(2Cl- --> Cl2(g) + 2e-) And,         16H+ + 2MnO4- + 10Cl---> 2Mn2+ + 5Cl2 +8H2O hence, coefficient of chlorine gas is 5. Hope that help!!!!
