Question

Hi, I just had a lab on "Using cell potentials to predict chemical reaction"
Im having difficulty on the formula Of
Grxn= -n F Ecell
I calculated the E cell for all my reactions and F is thefaraday constant which is= 96 485.3415 s A / mol
so for this reaction 3Mg + 2FeCl3 ---> 3MgCl2 + 2Fe
The Eox= 2.37 and Ered= -0.04
The Ecell is = 7.03 which is positive meaning the reaction isfeasible.
I dont know how to count the number of moles in theisreaction, so following the formula
Grxn= -n F Ecell = (n?) x (96,485.3145) (+7.03)

Can you tell me based from the reaction, how many moles (N) isin the reaction above?

I really appreciate it, if someone can help me :)
thanks.... "Using cell potentials to predict chemical reaction"

Explanation / Answer

The chloride can be left out because its oxidation state doesnot change.
