Tables should be an element that makes up a database management system. A DBMS should be a set of integrated programs designed to simplify the tasks of creating, accessing and managing data.

A contextual diagram should be a top-level, or least detailed data flow diagram of an information system that shows the system and all of its activities as a single bubble and shows the data flow into and Out of the system and into and out of the external entities.

Creating a table of entities and activities requires some pre entry organization. To begin a table it is best to review ant narrative data line by line circling each activity performed. An activity is any activity performed by an internal or external entity. Activities generally include data and operations processes.

For each activity performed there list the entity that performed the entity.
