Question

Determine the map distance between the two genes.

In a plant:

* orange color (W) is dominant to white color (w)
* speckled (G) is dominant to glittery (g)

The genes controlling these traits are linked. Plants that are heterozygous for both traits (WwGg) and express orange, speckled phenotypes were crossed with plants that express white, glittery phenotypes (wwgg) with the following results:

42 orange, speckled (WG)
38 white, glittery (wg)
7 orange, glittery (Wg)
13 white, speckled (wG)

PART A: Determine the map distance between the two genes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I calculated 20 map units, because we have 20 recombinant offspring (7 Wg and 13 wG), so (20/100) = 20% recombinant offspring, which equals 20 map units. IS THIS CORRECT??

PART B: Using the map units that were obtained in Part A, answer the following question.
If crossing over occurs in both sexes, what proportion of offspring would be expected to have an orange, speckled phenotype (WG) if a cross is conducted between pumpkin plants with the following genotypes:
WG/wg x Wg/wG
