Question
A company sells spyware that can intercept and record phone communications and email on a variety of email services. The company sells the software to government agencies in the United States (or your country, if you are outside the United States) that want it to pursue criminals and terrorists. Using ethical criteria from Chapter 1 and legal or constitutional criteria (from Chapter 2 as well as this one, or based on your country's constitution if you are outside the United States), evaluate the decision to sell the software.Explanation / Answer
Regarding first and second statements given ....
The guidelines of policy for ethical conduct are
i)Respect for persons
ii)Concern for welfare
iii)Justice
Firstly respect for persons...As this software intercepts and record phone communications
...it seems to be helpful to keep track of false or threat calls...But at the
same time easily terrorists can make a eave drop on givernment networks and
phones to exploit the information.
Coming to second point "concern for welfare" . This software is not much
helpful to people..since they always not want to store the others phone
calls..since it means exploiting secrets of them...which makes insecure.
Mainly third point....if this software sends to outside of nations then it will
reach to other countries defence army or terrorists..which increases threat
to own nation...
So better to not sold this software in the market...It can sold to central
government to have a look on criminals..
