My academic major is mechanical engineering. For this assignment I utilized the website, Monster.com, to locate three advertisements for job openings that relate to my major. The first advertisement I found was one for a mechanical design engineer position from Integral Staffing who is located in Ramsey, New Jersey. The employer references communication skills by specifying that applicants must be able to communicate well with vendors in order to fabricate a product. One must also be able to direct test engineers and technicians on a project. Good verbal and writing skills are requirements as well. This displays a necessary proficiency in communicating on a professional level. Applicants must also possess an attitude that is healthy and complies with working with a team on projects.

The second advertisement is also for another design engineer position with The Environmental Tectonics Corporation from Southampton, Pennsylvania. This position is advertised as to require an ability to analyze performance testing and then share the findings of this analysis with colleagues. Such a task makes good communication a real necessity for the applicant. The employer also had a good understanding of what t expects an employee’s attitude to be like. One must have a self-motivated attitude since there is little guidance on the assigned tasks. The applicant must also be a team player.

The last advertisement was for a senior engineering position from FARO Technologies based out of Exton, Pennsylvania. This is a leadership position that requires good communication to lower engineers through the assignment of certain design tasks. It also require the applicant to act as a mentor who can impart knowledge and advice to other engineers effectively. This leadership position requires an attitude that fits. Applicants must be responsible and willing to learn so as to eliminate complications for the engineers under him. Based on all the advertisements, the professional world requires someone who is effective at expressing ideas and contributes to a positive work environment.

In the present scenario, communication has now become the tool – how effectively one can express ideas creates a great impact.  

In today’s world, communication skills plays a major role. Communication is the ability to pass information from one person to another. The message must be conveyed properly and clearly. If the message is not conveyed properly , it may create a problem.

In professional world , good communication skills is very important. Good communication skills has become mandatory for all jobs. For professions where a person has to work in a team such as senior engineer or project manager, the person must be able to communicate his ideas, thoughts very clearly to his team members.

Creating a positive work environment has become a necessity, which means setting the right tone at work. Employees should have a feeling of trust and respect and not fear. Good communication between the employer and the employees, and between colleagues is imperative for a healthy work relationship. People should have the freedom to voice their ideas. This creates in increasing the morale and enhances productivity.
