Question

Statement: Using Indeed.com, I found two jobs asking for Mechanical Engineers. The first was for a position titled "Mechanical Systems Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer", and included no references to writing skills, but did dictate that applicants should be capable of delegating tasks, overseeing Delegated Engineering Representative's and assisting Specialist Engineers, Project Lead engineers, and/or Engineering Management with tasks like alloting budget and creating schedules. This implies a certain aptitude for communicating clearly and efficiently with others. Professional attitudes were also alluded to, in the posting's request for applicants who had achieved a certain level of management responsibility and technical leadership, or more specifically, at least six years of progressive responsibility in technical leadership. To be promoted so regularly to positions of more and more power, an employee must exhibit a high level of dedication, punctuality, and reliability, as well as a "take charge" disposition.

The second job I came across on Indeed.com was for a basic Mechanical Engineer position with Robert and Company in Alpharetta, GA. It is explicitly stated in the posting that potential candidates must have strong technical and design calculation skills, along with written and verbal communications skills. Furthermore, this job is in a consulting engineering firm, and as such, any applicants might expect to work very heavily with military, federal, and institutional clients. With this in mind, the ability to work well with people was also explicitly listed as a requirement for applicants. Once again, professional attitudes and work habits were not mentioned, but it was heavily implied that potential candidates be punctual and reliable, as clients will depend on this individual for design, preparation, and implementation of any collaborative projects.

The final job posting in the Mechanical Engineering field that I found was on Engineerjobs.com, for a Facility Engineer on the Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. The Facility Engineer would primarily be responsible for lending mechanical engineering expertise to various departments throughout the base during renovation, repairs, or development. This job posting asks specifically for candidates with both excellent communication and people skills, stating that the Facility Engineer would not only need to understand technical and detailed drawings, but would need to be capable of presenting at meetings and interacting with suppliers and/or vendors on a semi frequent basis. As far as work habits and professional attitudes go, the applicant is expected to be detailed and organized, as they would be responsible for keeping a variety of detailed records, and also flexible and levelheaded, as they would be expected to respond to disaster/emergency situations.

Question: Comment on the above stament as the sample below

Forexample : It is very interesting that the first job posting you mentioned did not make a reference to any writing skills, unless it job posting for someone that is going to be completely hands on. Maybe the employer wanted to put more emphasis and attention on the major tasks and highlights of the job rather than the basics skills required for any job. But every job posting you mention did seem to have references to professional attitudes and habits like being reliable, organized, self-motivated etc. I believe these are habits and attitudes every employer looks for when it coming to hiring someone for a new position in their company. When the applicant is reliable and organized, the employer doesn’t have to worry about things being lost or someone no showing up for an important meeting. When the applicant is self-motivated they employer won’t have to tell the applicant to do their work every 30 minutes.
