Question

Another argument against the use of GM crops is the possibility of negative environmental side effects. Proponents of Genetically Modified Foods argue just the opposite, claming that new GM crops offer the promise of reducing the use of pesticides and fertilizers while still increasing crop yields. Opponents charge that there are unknown risks to these "Frankenfoods", particularly if pesticide resistant genes from GM crops are transferred to native plant species. If that promise is real, is it worth the risk to the environment? What are the actual risks to the environment? Are environmental groups exaggerating these risks or are companies like Monsanto minimizing them? Back that up with research. Explanation / Answer

Main risks to the environment are :-

Monsanto is a seed company. This company uses traditional breeding techniques to make new varieties of the required seeds. I mean to say, it uses those techniques which have been long practised by farmers in vivo on their farmlands. These have been tested by FDA also. So, one can say that companies like Monsanto are minimising these risks, although 100% risk minimisation can never be attained.
