Question
What causes the “end replication problem?” whats the correct answer and why? I chose B, why am i Wrong?
A) The removal of RNA primer sequence.
B) Termination sequences occur prior to the end of the chromosome.
C) A difference in the relative sequence positions of the polymerases at the replication fork.
D) A & B
E) A & C
Also: Interpret the graph.
A) The available quantity of Cdk1 fluctuates through the cell cycle.
B) The available quantity of Cyclin B fluctuates through the cell cycle.
C) The activity of Cdk1 is regulated entirely by Cyclin B.
D) B & C
Explanation / Answer
End replication problem is associated with replicating linear DNA because of the removal of RNA primer sequence associated with the lagging strand, and the shortening of the chromosomal end. However, it is compensated by enzyme "Telomerase". However, termination sequences occur prior to the end of the chromosome has a role at the end of replication but not in "end replication problem".
d) B & C, In the graph it is clear that the available quantity of cyclin B fluctuates with the cell cycle. Furthermore, the activity of Cdk1 is regulated by cyclin B protein.
