Question
Equation Assistance - Indirect Offset and others
I am having difficulty creating an equation. My Excel skills have become rusty and I am hoping someone can assist.
I have three sheets:
Sheet1: Contains data, both numerical and text
Sheet2: Contains text data that will be used as a reference in Sheet3
Sheet3: Will repeat data from Sheet1 in a more manageable form
I have an equation that works in Sheet3, Cell A5
=INDIRECT("'Sheet1'!" & Sheet2!A20)
Sheet2!A20 is "H18", so the value returned from the above equation is from Sheet!H18, which is a text string. That part works fine.
Now, in Sheet3!B5, I want to display the value in Sheet1 that is 2 rows below and 2 columns to the right of my prior answer or in other words Sheet1!L20. I want to use the reference of "Sheet2!A20" and move down two rows and two columns to the right.
I believe that I need to use the offset function to reference the proper. But I don't know how to incorporate into my equation.
Can someone please assist???
Explanation / Answer
Hi..
You can use
=OFFSET(INDIRECT("'Sheet1'!" & Sheet2!A20), 2, 2)
