Paste Special/Skip Blanks - a real problem

Hello!

I spent 3 hours on the phone with 'Office Support - tier2, but my issue remains unresolved (I have 100+ workbooks each having 100k lines and columns to 'GGK' which are all dependent on getting the issue resolved). I'm extremely hopeful someone can help!

I have a column of numbers and blank cells (the cells have 'if equations' and many of the equation results are blank, i.e., " "). I copy the column and 'paste values' to a 'pasted values' column. Then, the 'pasted values column' is copied and then 'pasted special/'skip blanks box checked' to another column filled with other values and information. However, even though the pasted values column has many blank cells, the 'skip blanks' paste nevertheless deletes the values when pasted to the other column. It seems that even though the 'pasted value' cells are blank, there is some type of residual 'value' tin the "blank cell." If I manually delete the "blank cell" (or 'clear all'), and then 'paste/skip blanks', it works fine. However, it's not possible for me to manually prepare all the "blank cells" by manually deleting them.

Is there some workaround that might resolve the problem? Thanks so much (in advance) for any help you might offer!

Thanks !!

Explanation / Answer

Hi..

Is it possible to update the IF formulae?

In that case replace blank in the formula with some text which can not occur in your data. Then search and replace it (leaving replace box blank)... this will solve your problem.

Also if 'pasted values' column is formatted as TEXT then it will not overwrite blanks....

If you have numbers even then you can convert it to TEXT then copy 1 in any cell and PASTE SPECIAL -> MULTIPLY to convert 'numbers' back to nu
