Question

can someone explain the following to me please Ive been having trouble understanding the following thank you

How would you make 500.00mL of 1.50M sulfuric acid solution from a stock bottle that is 10.0M? Show calculation. 6. 7. What is the new molarity if 25.00mL of 6.00M hydrochloric acid is diluted to 250.0mL? 8. What is the molarity of the nitrate ion that is found in a solution made by dissolving 6.25g of aluminum nitrate in a total volume of 150.0mL? 9. A 100.00 mL solution made from dissolving 0.4525g of a powdered drink was determined to have a blue dye concentration of 6.28 X 10-6 M. If the molar mass of the dye was 792.84g/mol, what is the percent dye in the drink? 10. What ef t would the following have on your determined absorbance measurement of a fec solution. (too high, too low or unchanged)? Explain a. a foggy solution b. bubbles in the cuvette fingerprints that reflect light c. d. fingerprints on the cuvette that absorb at your chosen wavelength 162 10 SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF BLUE DYE REPORT FORM

Explanation / Answer

6) Given M1=10 M M2=1.5 M V2=0.5 L V1=?

We have relation M1V1=M2V2

V1=M2V2/M1=1.5*.5/10=0.075 litre

0.075 litre of 10 M sulphuric acid diluted to 0.5 litre to make 1.5 M solution.

7) Given : M1=6 M V1=0.025 L V2=0.25 L M2=?

M2=M1V1/V2=6*0.025/0.25=0.6 M

M2=0.6 M

8) 1 mole of Al(NO3)3 = 3 moles of nitrate ion

213 g Al(NO3)3=3*62 g nitrate ion

6.25 g Al(NO3)3=186*6.25/213=5.45 g nitrate ion

Molarity= no of moles / volume of solution in lit

no of moles of nitrate ion=mass/ Molar mass

mass=5.45 g Molar mass=62

no of moles= 5.45/62=0.087

Molarity=0.087/0.15=0.58 M

10) A foggy solution contains dust etc. due to this absorbance will decrease due decrease in conc.n of solution.

A bubbled solution contains air which in turn decreses conc.n results in decrese in absorbance

C and D Abosrbance decreses
