give the net ionic equation for the reaction (if any) that occurs when aqueous solutions K2S and Fe(NO3)2 are mixed... Sooooo......K2S + Fe(NO3)2----> ?????? K2(NO3)2 +FeS2?? I really need help figuring out if this last part is right I don't understand is the subscript 2 after no3 the charge? the number of atoms? please help

For future reference, this kind of reaction is called double displacement. It means the bases switch. So now instead of the NO3 being with the Fe it now switches to the K and the S now switches to the Fe. Fe^+2 (aq)+ NO3^-1 (aq) + K^+1 (aq) + S^-2 (aq) --> KNO3(aq) + FeS (s) So, now that your equation is set up, you cancel out. So you have 1 aqueous solution of NO3 on either side so those cancel, you have 1 aqueous soultion of K on either side so those cancel, then, since the Fe and S are not aqueous after the reaction, those do not cancel. This would leave you with: Fe^+2 (aq) + S^-2 (aq) ----> FeS (s)
