Question
The authors have reported the effects of Red Bull on the cardiovascular system, among other findings in this paper. What were the effects found within this study with regards to heart rate, and were these results consistent with other research performed in the field? What explanation do the authors offer to account for this? Do not feel as though you have to write a very lengthy response; this question is a short answer question, not an essay style question and is only worth 3 marks. It should not take longer than a few minutes to explain. Proper grammar, sentence structure, etc. are expected. Do not use point form.
Explanation / Answer
Red bull is found to increase the heart rate. This is partly attributed to the presence of caffeine, which have positive ionotropic and positive chronotropic effect on heart. The average systolic blood pressure is increased in those regularly consuming red bull, due to the activation of autonomic sympathetic nervous system.
