Question
Use average bond energies to calculate delta H for the reaction of H2 and O2 to form water. H single bond H ....................+ :O: double bond :O: ----> H single bond :O: single bond H H single bond H..................................H single bond :O: single bond H ANSWER MUST BE IN KJ I saw this question where someone else had asked it, but I did not understand the answer at all. It was a step-by-step guide to how to solve the problem. Didn't understand. Tried over and over to get the answer. So if your answer could include the answer to the question also, that would be great. Thanks in advance!Explanation / Answer
you have to add the 2 single Hydrogen bonds energy and add the double oxygen bond energy and subtract that total from the HO bonds energy which there are 4 of and your answer should be -485
