1. Why is it not correct to say that species in a tropical rainforest co-evolved and that it was a stable ecosystem?

2. Why is it not really possible that many taxa came from higher altitudes and then came to invade tropical habitats?

3. No-analog communities are supposed to be typical in the future, and were also in the past, so what should be begin to conserve if no-analog communities are common in the future?

Explanation / Answer

2. Why is it not really possible that many taxa came from higher altitudes and then came to invade tropical habitats?

Species which occupies environment such as taxa from higher altitude can be particular to both biotic and abiotic features of these environments, if fluctuations are predicatble through time.

The rigors of this kind of environment of low predictability select for more frequent extinctions of species and less specialization so species abundance level in most tropic levels are relatively low.

There should be selection for migration of species from areas of low predictability but not the migration of species from areas of high predictability.

But such invasions are not possible due to competition from resident species of taxa in the predictable environment.

Successful invasion of predictable environment is thought to be possible only when perturbations in the environment take place rather than a result of ecological dispersal or presence of unfilled resource patches.
