QUESTIONS 1. Indicate how cach of the following etrors would affect (increase change) your calculated value for the molar volume of O, at STP su you complete the experiment otherwise correctly). In each case. ex answer. of oorgot to subtract the vapor pressure of water in determining the pressure b. While heating your sample in the test tube, your flame was improperly ad justed so that a black soot formed on the outside of the test tube and was not removed before being weighed ume that you heated your sample too rapidly, and some of the sample spattered onto the rubber stopper in the test tube. Will your calculated percent KCIO, be too high, too low, or unaffected if you finish the experiment as written? Explain. 2. Assu

Explanation / Answer

a. If the vapour pressure of water vapor is not subtracted, then it means pressure calculated of water vapor will be more which accounts for more number of moles and hence corresponding more volume at STP.

b. Due to the black soot formed, the weight of test tube containg oxygen vapour will get increased and hence corresponding moles of O2 vapour and its molar voume be calculated more.

2.due to loss of KClO3 in rubber test tube, there will be decrease in the amount of KClO3 and hence its percentage yield calculated will be assumed to be more because it woild have been thought that loss would be converted to more oxygen
