Question
A deep-sea diver uses a gas cylinder with a volume of 10.0 L and a content of 51.8 g of O2and 32.6 g of He.
Part A
Calculate the partial pressure of each gas and the total pressure if the temperature of the gas is 18 C.
Express the pressures in atmospheres to three significant digits separated by commas.

PO2, PHe, Ptotal =Explanation / Answer
No of mol of O2 = 51.8/32 = 1.62 mol
No of mol of He = 32.6/4 = 8.15 mol
partal pressure(Po2) = nRT/V
= 1.62*0.0821*(18+273.15)/10
= 3.87 atm
partal pressure(pHe) = nRT/V
= 8.15*0.0821*(18+273.15)/10
= 19.5 atm
total pressure = pO2 + pHe
= 3.87 + 19.5
= 23.37 atm
