Question

the difference between mass and weight can be illustrated by considering an astronaut. How would an astronauts mass and weight in outer space compare with his mass and weight on the earths surface? the difference between mass and weight can be illustrated by considering an astronaut. Explanation / Answer

Mass is a property of a body , it is a measure of an object's resistance to changing its state of motion when a force is applied.

Weight is the force of gravitational on the mass.Weighht is equal to mg , where g is acceleration due to gravity

For an astronaut, his mass will be same no matter where he is, in space, on another planet , on sun.everywhere his mass will be same.

But , as we know ,weight is mass times gravity . Gravity will differe place to place. In space , there is no gravity so astronuat will feel weightlessness , on moon , we would feel weight but lighter etc.
