when ever there is an increase in no of moles of gases during the reaction, entropy change increases and whenever there is a decrease in no of moles of gaseous products, entroy change decreases.

in the reaction N2(g)+3H2(g)<---->2NH3(g), there are 4 mole of reactants and 2 mole of products. So entropy change is less since there is a decrease in no of moles. deltaS<0
