please help me solve these questions

Gaseous ammonia can be injected into the exhaust stream of a coal-burning power plant to reduce the pollutant NO to N2 according to the reaction: 4 NH3(g) + 4 NO(g) + O2(g)- 4N2(g) + 6H20(g) 1 Suppose that the exhaust stream of a power plant has a flow rate of 335 Ls at a temperature of 955 K, and that the exhaust contains a partial pressure of NO of 22.4 Torr. What should be the flow rate of ammonia delivered at 1.007 bar and 298 K into the stream to react completely with the NO if the ammonia is 65.2% pure (by volume)? 110 Tha amiggion ofNO hy fossil fuel combustion can be prevente

Explanation / Answer

From the stoichiometry of the reaction

4 moles of NH3 requires 4 mol of NO

1 mol of NH3 requires 1 mol of NO

Therefore we can take basis of this mol ratio.

1.007 bar = 755.3 torr

The partial pressure of the ammonia at 298 K = Pressure x mole fraction

= 755.3 x0.652 = 492.45 torr.

The partial pressure of the ammonia at 955 K =

= 492.45 x(955/298) = 1578.17 torr.

The ratio of partial pressure of NH3 and NO = 1578.17/22.4

From the ideal gas equation, Partial pressure is inversely proportional to the flow rate.

The ratio of flow rates of NH3 and NO = 22.4/1578.17

Flow rate Of NH3 = 335x(22.4/1578.17)

= 4.7548 L/s.
