a. Strain A has a normal lac operon.
b. Strain B has a mutation in the lac operator that prevents the lac repressor from binding to the operator.
c. Strain C has a mutation in the lac repressor so that it no longer binds allolactose.
d. Strain D has a mutation in the CRP protein so that it no longer binds cAMP. Keep in mind that normally, when CRP binds cAMP it then attaches to the CRP site of the lac operon and stimulates transcription of the lac operon.
