Question
I can’t seem to figure out how to calculate Equivalents of unknown in a titration with KOH.Volumetric Analysis Il: Titration of an Unknown Solid Acid DATA: UuKnon Lo Concentration NeOH Concentration HCI Trial N (M Concentration HicI 0.5006 N (M) Masstekpoe+ sample 115.os ellIS.45 mass test tube- sample final buret r initial buret read NaOH Voume NeoH26.3Sa 26.20 final buret reading initial buret reading Volume HCI mL HCI HCI mL Mass 45-_ple 1.0114 1.0NG RESULTS Trial Mass sample equivalents(moles) equivalents(moles) equivalents(moles) equivalent weight equivalent weight % difference (of t, 9114 ogl . D 1215,, ,0 120E.') Unknown Unknown lmol koH
Explanation / Answer
Assuming that it is monoprotic acid and the titration is complete and hence after the titration is complete the equivalents of both should be equal and hence the equivalents of acid are equal to KOH=0.01215 and weight of sample=1.0114g Hence equivalent weight=(Weight/No. of equivalents)=1.0114/0.01215= 83.98g
and for the second case 1.012/0.01208=83.77g
Average Equivalent Weight=83.877 g
% difference=((83.98-83.77)/83.98)*100=0.25%
I hope that this resolves your query. If any doubt leave a comment.
