Question
Heating process is to use a lamp and a beaker of gravel (with and without co2 enriched) to simulate greenhouse effect. Cooling process is with lamp off. Don't know why the difference happens Heating Curves Include one graph with both the heating curve for the air-only trial (Trial #1) and the heating curve for the CO2-enriched trial (Trial #2). Be sure to include only the heating portions of the trials. Use this data to complete the table below. Initial Temperature Highest Temperature Temperature Difference Trial Air-only CO2-enriched (AT, °C) 1.4 | 3.7 3 8-go Difference Between Ar of Air-only and CO2-enriched Trials | Cooling Curves Include one graph with both the cooling curve for the air-only trial (Trial #1) and the cooling curve for the CO2-enriched trial (Trial #3). Be sure to include only the cooling portions of the trials. Use this data to complete the table below. Final Temperature 23.8 Highest Temperature Temperature Difference 22.h 216 | (AT, °C) bo .10 Air-only CO2-enriched !: Difference Between AT of Air-only and COz-enriched Trials o.So Why is the difference in the AT values of the air-only and CO-enriched trials (third row of the above table) different for heating compared to cooling? (Hint: Think about the dominant source of photons in each system, if you are unsure visit the link to the PhET Interactive Simulation on blackbody radiation provided in pre-lab question 7)Explanation / Answer
Co2 is a green house gas it absorb the reflected sun rays and thus increase the temperature ,lamp is on also add its own heat to it and make.the process faster.
But when cooling is done, lamp is already off, so process of cooling will slow so decrease in temp is only due to releasing heat whixh is absorbed by co2 and not due to lamp.
