Question

How many grams of CO_2 can be produced when 25.0 g of O_2 reacts? The reaction of Hydrogen with oxygen produces water. 2 H_2 + O_2 rightarrow 2H_2O If you have 5.0 moles of O_2, how many moles of H_2 are needed for the reaction 4.7 moles of C react? C+ SO_2 rightarrow CS_2 + CO Propane (C_3H_8) reacts with oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water. C_3H_8 + O_2 rightarrow CO_2 + H_2O a) How many grams of O_2 are required to react with 22.0g of C_3H_8? b) How many grams of C_3H_8 are needed to produce 15.0g of H_2O?

Explanation / Answer

Ans 3.

The balanced reaction of production of water is given as

2H2 + O2 = 2H2O

Each mole of oxygen requires 2 moles of Hydrogen to produce 2 moles of water according to the balanced reaction.

So 5 moles of O2 will require 5 x 2

= 10 moles of H2 for the reaction .
