The diagram below shows a part of the biochemical pathway responsible for fruit color in peppers (genus Caspicum). Enzyme A converts a colorless precursor into the red pigment, while enzyme B converts the same precursor into a yellow pigment. Enzyme C converts some, but not all, of the yellow pigment into red. If both red and yellow pigments are present, the pepper fruit is orange. A pepper plant of genotype AaBbCc is self-fertilized to yield 640 offspring. How many of them are expected to bear yellow fruit? (That is, they can produce the yellow pigment but no red.) Assume that the three Loci assort independently and that the lower-case letters stand for genes encoding inactive forms of the enzymes.Explanation / Answer
