When performing part 2 of this lab a group of students forgot to place the test tubes into the cold-water bath for 10 min before starting the reaction. Only after adding persulfate they placed the test tubes into the cold-water bath. How will this mistake affect their data (elapsed time) and their results (rate constant)? It is possible to determine k' with a single measurement? Explain how. Why did we bother to perform multiple measurements to determine k' if we b. can do it with a single measurement? Be specific. Using your Arrhenius plot determine the rate constant at 80 degree C. How many seconds would it take for determination clock 80 degree C?Explanation / Answer
Ans 1 . As no thiosulfate is present in the test tube so none of it would stop the accumulation of iodine .
Hence the group of students will observe the blue complex that would appear instantaneously as soon as they add persulfate in the tube .
