Basal metabolic rate is the rate at which body performs the metabolism . It is the minimal amount of energy expenditure per unit time by endothermic animal at rest
It is the amount of energy in calories which a body requires to be funcitoning at rest. Processes that involves are circulation, breathing etc.
In this experiment six individual were tested for BMR. These values are taken at rest The invidual were asked for there BMR and then reading were taken at an interval of 10 mins. These values are the mean values for last seven readings.
The readings suggest that the BMR varies with the weight and height ratio and is dependent over it. The person having a weight of 86 kg is having a high BMR and the person who is having lesser weight is having a low BMR.
It generally helps us identify the person in the category of obese, overweight and optimum weight.
