Distillation is the process of separation of volatile part of a substance from the non-volatile. It is helpful in separating two liquids which are separated by appreciable boiling points, where the vapours of the liquid is condensed and collected.

Reflux is a technique where the liquid is boiled and the vapours where condensed back to the same flask. It is helpful to supply energy to a reaction for a long period of time.
