Question

Based on the experimental evidence what is the optimal pH for catalase activity? Explain. The optimal pH is when the catalase is in a neutral pH environment which is a pH of 7. It works best in this environment, because it helps the enzyme react with hydrogen peroxide. In extremely high or low pH values usually result in the total loss of activity in most enzymes. We had the most reactivity when the liver and sand were not crushed and when they were crushed. Mixing the sand and liver in an acid did not cause a reaction,

Explanation / Answer

I assume yu need the explanation and simple understanding for the given data.

From the Problem Statement we are asked to give the experimental evidence for the optimal pH for the activity of the given catalyst. From the given data we understand that Catalyst performs the best when operated in the neutral environment whcih means nothing but the pH of 7. The reason being this pH level allows the enzyme to react with hydrogen peroxide. Also it is evident that when we hvae very high or very low pH that means too Basic or Acidic conditions respectively, the catalytic activity of the enzyme was lost.
