I'm doing princeton ap chem prep book and i dont understand how to solve 35&36!!
how do we find excess and limiting reageant and use stoichiometry to solve these??
T.T pls help me

Questions 35.38 refer to the following reaction. relatonship and 60 mol of o, gas are allowed 40 mol of sealed container, to react in a Which particulate drawing best represents the contents of the flask after the reaction goes to completion? (soy (soy thesis: 6. If the temperature remains constant, what percentage of the inal pressure will final pressure in the container the be equal to? 67% (B) 80% (c) 100% 5 (D) 133%

Explanation / Answer

Q35

after reactino goes to completions

mol of SO2 = 4, mol of O2 = 6, ratio is 2:1 so

4 mol of SO2 need 2 mol of O2 to form 4 mol of SO3

mol of O2 left = 6-2 = 4

so:

best depiction is that of C, since 4 mol fo SO3 and 4 mol of O2 are left

Q36

%of original pressure

relate to moles

initial moles = 4+6 = 10

final moles = 8

then

P1/n1 = P2/n2

n2/n1*P1 = P2

P2 = 8/10 --> 80% of initial
