Explanation / Answer
Iron in its ferrous form (heme form) is more absorbable. Some food sources rich in iron in its heme form are red meat, liver and bone marrow of animals. In vegetables, iron is present in non-heme form and it should be converted into heme form to get absorbed. Iron absorption is more favourable in acidic conditions. Vegetable sources that are rih in iron include, spinach, broccoli, nuts, whole grains, dark chocolate etc.
