Question
According to the Kinetic Molecular Theory, gas molecules at the same temperature have the same average kinetic energy. Using this and your other knowledge about the Kinetic Molecular Theory, arrange the gas molecules below in order of increasing average speed assuming that they are all at the same temperature. Include an explanation of why you arranged the gas molecules in the order you chose. O_3, SO_2, Xe, CH_4, F_2 42 mL portion of 0.2675 M nitric acid was used to neutralize 25.00 mL of a barium hydroxi lution of unknown concentration. Use these data to calculate the concentration (M) of the b droxide solution. The balance chemical equation is below. 2HNOExplanation / Answer
11)
molecular weight of O3 = 48 g/mol
molecular weight of SO2 = 64 g/mol
molecular weight of Xe = 131.3 g/mol
molecular weight of CH4 = 16 g/mol
molecular weight of F2 = 38 g/mol
increasing order of average speed :
Xe < SO2 < O3 < F2 < CH4
molecular weight increases then average speed decrease. so CH4 has less molecular weight so it has high avereage speed
