Question
Air at 75 degree C and 1 atm contains 25 mol% water. A continuous stream of this air enters a condenser-compressor unit where the temperature is lowered to 15 degree C and the pressure is raised to 3 atm. The air leaving the condenser-compressor unit is then heated at constant pressure to 100 degree C. Calculate: The dew point temperature of the inlet gas and the degrees of superheat. Calculate the fraction of the water that is condensed in the compressor-condenser unit. The relative humidity (h_r) of the air leaving the heater at 100 degree C.Explanation / Answer
SUPERHEATING
It applied to vapors only.
It is carried out at constant pressure.
It is expressed as degree of superheat.
Degree of superheat is = Actual temperature - Boiling (saturation) temperature
substitute the values and get the answer
and Dew point can be calculated from Daltons law..using Antoine equation by guessing the temperature and solving it according to Iteration methods..
c) Td = T - ((100 - RH)/5.)
use this equation to find RH once you know the Dew point
