Question
Just need soe help witha couple calculations, my data is as follows.
Mass of calorieter+water- 161.749g
Mass of Solid +Plastic Packet- 5.973g
Mass Of Plastic Packet- .817g
Mass of water,m water- 57.288g
Mass of solid compound-5.156g
Initital temp of calorimeter- 21.5 degrees celcius
Final Temp of calorimeter-26.3 degree celcius
Molar mass of solid copound-105.99 g/mol
please find q of reaction in joules, delta H of solution in joules, and delta H of solution per mole of solid in Joules per mole, thank you very much.
Explanation / Answer
Mass of calorimeter + water- 161.749g
Mass of Solid +Plastic Packet- 5.973g
Mass of Plastic Packet- .817g
Mass of water = 57.288g
Mass of solid compound-5.156g
Initial temp of calorimeter- 21.5 degrees celcius
Final Temp of calorimeter-26.3 degree celcius
Molar mass of solid copound-105.99 g/mol
i) q of reaction in joules-
q = mc T
q = heat lost or gained
T = change in temperature
m = mass of object
c = specific heat capacity
Mass of water is = 57.288g
c for water is 4.184 J/g C°C
q = mc T
q = (57.288 g)(4.184 J/g°C)( 26.3 °C – 21.5°C)
= 1150.53J
ii) H of solution in joules
H = m x s x T
m = Mass of water (57.288g) + Mass of solid compound (5.156g) = 62.444g
H = (62.444g) × (4. 184 J/g°C) × (26.3 °C – 21.5°C ) = 1254.075 J
iii) H of solution per mole of solid in Joules per mole-
Mass of solid compound-5.156g
Molar mass of solid copound-105.99 g/mol
Moles of solid = Mass of solid compound/ Molar mass of solid compound
Moles of solid = 5.156g/105.99 g/mol = 0.0486460 moles
H of solution per mole of solid = 1254.075 J/0.0486460 moles
H of solution per mole of solid = 25 779.61J/mol
