Explanation / Answer

Looking at the calculations above we can say that, the column chromatography has sucessfully separated the carotenes. The mass of components isolated are recorded accrodingly. The Rf values for the different components are calculated based on the TLC separation of the mixture of components in the pigment. The Rf values found by the experiment matches well with the Rf value found in the literature. Vegetables having similar components as part of their pigment would show similar molar extinction values.
