Question
What is the mass of an object that has a density of 11.3 g/cm^3 and a volume of 6.45 cm^3? Using the density of ethyl alcohol from Table 2, what volume of alcohol would be needed to obtain a mass of 12.5g? Circle the type of glassware that is the most precise. 10 mL graduated cylinder 100 mL graduated cylinder 100 mL beaker Explain your answer. Using the graph from Procedure D, What is the value your graph shows for the mass of the liquid when the volume is 0 mL? What should the value be? Explain your results and why they might not have given the expected value. What are the units for specific gravity?Explanation / Answer
1) Answer: m=72.885 g
density d=11.3 g/cm3 , volume V=6.45 cm3
According to equation density (d)= mass (m)/volume (V), m= dV=11.3x6.45= 72.885 g
2) m =12.5 g, we know the ethanol density d=0.7893
v=m/d=12.5/0.7893=15.837 cm3
3) Answer a) 10 ml graduate cylinder
less quantity flask should give the most precise value, so 10 ml cylinder most accurate value
4) question is not clear , we dont know where is the procedure D
please provide that i can give answer according to that
5) no units(unit less) for specific gravity
specific gravity is the ratio density of substance to the density of reference.
so it is the value numerical with out units
