1a. The reaction is using the Method of Initial Rates in conjunction with the Isolation Method. The initial rates of the reactions and the initial concentrations of the reactants are given. The set of data helps us to analyze how the initial rate varies as the concentration of the reactant(s) is changed. This helps us to ascertain the order of the reaction with respect to the particular reactant. However, an important point to note is that when we are evaluating the initial reaction rate with respect to one particular reactant, the concentration of the second reactant must be held constant in all the trials.

b. The reaction uses the Isolation Method in conjunction with the Method of Initial Rates. Infact, the two methods always work in tandem. When we use the Method of Initial Rates, it is imperative that the concentration of one particular reactant be held constant and the variation of the reaction rate with the other reactant is evaluated.

c. The reaction uses the Integrated Rate Law Method. The data are plotted and the linear graph is identified to give the order of the reaction with respect to the reactant.

2. The Isolation Method can only work when we have more than one reactant. What we essentially do in the Isolation Method is that we held the concentration of one of the reactants (usually the reactant present in higher concentration) fixed and we study how the reaction rate varies with the concentration of the other reactant (usually the reactant present in lower concentration). If we have a single reactant, the Isolation Method cannot work because we cannot isolate the reactant whose effect we are going to study – that would make the entire exercise fruitless.
