NEED BOTH QUESTIONS ANSWERED!! PLEASE
A reaction has a rate law of Rate = k[A]^2[B]. Which of the following statements is most probably true? Doubling the concentration of A will double the rate of the reaction. Tripling [A] will affect the rate twice as much as tripling [B]. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of B_2 at some stage. Tripling [B] will affect the rate twice as much as tripling [A]. If the disappearance of the spheres in this diagram is a first order reaction, how much time is required to go from the second box to the third box? 2min 8min 4 min 1 min 6 minExplanation / Answer
3. Given rate law is rate = k[A]2[B]
Here the order with respect to A & B are 2 & 1 respectively.
As r proportional to [A]2 , on doubling the concentration of A the rate will four times
On tripling the [B] rate also triples
On tripling [A] the rate will 32 = 9 times
So on tripling the [A] will affect the rate 3 times as much as tripling [B]
Therefore option (a) is correct
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. The time required that the initial mass/concentration to become half is half-life
So for the first convertion the number of molecules will becomes half so the time required is half-life & it is 2 min
For the second convertion also the number of molecules will be half so the time required is equal to half-life & is 2 min
So option (a) is correct
