15. Explain what transcription is in your own words (like you were talking to someone who had never had science before and you really wanted them to understand why this is important).
16. Give an overview of what RNA processing is.
17. Explain what translation is in your own words (like you were talking to someone who had never had science before and you really wanted them to understand why this is important).
18. How does RNA code for an amino acid? Explain how incorporating the fact that there are only 4 kinds of bases and 20 kinds of amino acids.
Explanation / Answer
15. transcription id the transmission of genetic information from DNA to RNA. DNA is the form of genetic material where it is stored but RNA is the form os genetic material which is ready to be transmitted to from the mother cell to the daughter cell. mother and daughter in this context refer to where the passage of information occurs and where the information has to be passed to.
16. RNA processing includes the steps beforetranslation process. it includes addition of 5-methyl G-cap, splicing and addition of poly-A tail. this steps protect the RNA from RNase while the RNA is moved from nucleus to the ribosome for protein synthesis
17. translation is the decoding of information contained in the RNA, which was actually coming from DNA into aminoacids, which are the actual building blocks of every protein in our body. if translation doesnt occur, actaul information in DNA could not be transformed into characters
18.RNA are decoded in the form of aminoacids according to genetic code table, actaully there are 4 nucieotides but randon combination of these nucleotides produce 64 codons. these 64 codons redundantly code for a total of 20 amino acides. this happens due to the second and third nucleotide in a codon is often redundant codin gfor the same aminoacids even though the third base is different.
