Analytical Chemistry Question, please help!!

The detection limit for Lead determined with the ICP-OES in radial view is 10 ppb (ug L^-1)

a) If a 10 ppb lead soolution is pumped to the debulizer at 1.5 mL/min and the nebulizer and spray chamber is about 2% efficient at delivering an aerosol to the plasma, calculate the mass and number of lead atoms introduced into the plasma each second.

b) if the plasma temperature is 6800 K, determine how many of the lead atoms are in the 220.353 nm excited state.

Explanation / Answer

A. The mass of lead atom per second = 1.5 ml/min

Threrofore 1.5/60=0.025 ml/ sec but the density of lead is 11360mg/cm3 hense the mass of lead is 0.025×11360=284mg

Number of lead atoms introduce each second is 284×6.03×1023 =1712.53×1023
